Become a Volunteer Food Runner!

Peninsula Food Runners relies on volunteers to be successful. You can volunteer for a regular weekly food run, which is a pickup and drop-off that normally requires 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete. You can also volunteer for the occasional backup or on-call food runs.

  • Pick Up Excess Food From Restaurants, Grocers, Companies, or Farmers’ Markets
  • Deliver The Food To Outreach Organizations
  • Volunteer As An Individual, With Family, Or With Co-Workers. If you are under 18, your parents or a trusted adult can be your co-pilot.
  • Share Your Delivery Route With A Friend
  • Make A Difference In Your Neighborhood

“Why I’m a Food Runner” "A simple act — picking up and delivering food — can mean everything to someone in need. I'm proud to be part of a community that values kindness and sustainability."

You will gain:

  • You will gain food safety knowledge.
  • You will have access to PFR staff to accomplish your food runs.
  • A flexible volunteer opportunity that fits your schedule.
  • The fulfillment of helping to reduce food waste and combat hunger.
  • You will expand your awareness of socially responsible businesses and nonprofits in your community.

“Why I’m a Food Runner? There are so many people who are food insecure, and there’s so much waste, so it’s the perfect pairing. It’s nice to feel part of the community, meeting new people, and learning more about it. I’ve been doing this for about a year now, and I enjoy doing these food runs with my son.”

— Courtney, FOOD RUNNER
