Our mission is simple: to rescue good edible food that otherwise would be disposed of in the landfill and give it to those in need. In the United States, we waste 40% of food that makes it to market. Recouping only 15% of food wasted would feed 25 million people.
In San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, businesses wanting to alleviate food waste and reduce hunger have partnered with Peninsula Food Runners. Peninsula Food Volunteers are required to take a food safety test in order to be qualified to pick up excess food and deliver it to local shelters and food programs for the needy.
Peninsula Food Runners has partnered with ChowMatch—the technology behind our operations—to streamline the donation process. To get started, simply sign up on the ChowMatch app, where you’ll be guided through the next steps.
